It was one little fender bender. Sadie was only in picturesque Pineville, Michigan, for a day, trying to handle the ramshackle house her grandmother left her and juggle the sale of her failing design business at the same time. Her debtors don’t care that it’s almost Christmas. But then neither does the big bad contractor whose truck got squashed.
Colt McCoy might be the least festive person she’s ever met. He’s gruff, rude, and way too upset about a minor accident. Of course, he is nice to look at, with dimples hiding in his scruffy beard and a body like a lumberjack’s. And Sadie will have plenty of time to enjoy the view, since their community service sentence has put the two of them in charge of Pineville’s jinxed Christmas tree.
But as their squabbles over ornaments turn to laughter, anyone can see Colt and Sadie have something electric. The hard part is guessing if they’ll light each other up—or just keep blowing the fuse.

What does a quick glance away from the road, a raccoon, a falling light pole, a wrecked truck, a jinxed Christmas tree and two strangers have in common? One hilarious, touching and enjoyable Christmas tale.
Sadie had only intended to spend one miserable day in Pineville to tend to her grandmother’s house. Rotten luck seemed to follow her everywhere she went… and now dumb luck, okay maybe her own fault, but dumb nonetheless is keeping her in this small town doing community service with the most grumpy, handsome man she’s ever met.
Colt can’t believe his eyes or the reason why his truck in totaled. To say he’s not a happy camper is a vast understatement and instead of what he was looking for.. justice for the damage done… what he’s getting is tied up even tighter with this crazy woman on a community service sentence to put up the town’s totally jinxed Christmas tree.
Bad luck, horrible timing or two people coming together at just the right time to fall in love – very unexpectedly.
The Christmas Tree is quite simply one of those Christmas stories that will stay in your mind, and be brought out for another read next year – or whenever you need a good chuckle.
Sadie and Colt seem like an unlikely pair at first glance, but then no one is at their best under those circumstances. As they work on the Christmas tree project they will discover the real person behind that first impression… and maybe find out that the best gift they got this year was each other. i laughed out loud, commiserated with their situation and sat back and enjoyed the sparks they lit off of each other.
If you’re looking for a feel good read full of chuckles, Christmas cheer and small town madness, then this is a story that you’ll want to add to your own Christmas list. I would definitely recommend The Christmas Tree. It’s funny, charming, heartwarming and just a good read to get you in the holiday mood.
