Her Mistletoe Cowboy by Alissa Callen

Corporate analyst, Ivy Bishop, intends spending Christmas holed up in an isolated Montana ranch house with only an abandoned puppy for company. When the festive season ends her broken heart might just have had just enough time to heal.

Ex-rodeo rider, Rhett Dixon, has put his playing days behind him. He has something to prove. Despite being the first son in three generations of ranchers, he is determined to succeed in ranching on his own merits.

But when Rhett’s new neighbor proves to be far-too-pretty and far-too-compassionate, his single-minded focus deserts him. And the more time Ivy spends with the workaholic, blue-eyed cowboy next door the more she realizes her heart isn’t actually broken – yet.

Her Mistletoe Cowboy brought me not only everything I look for in a Contemporary Romance, but also that special magic that I search out in my Christmas Romance stories as well.  Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s also part of a series that I’m enjoying as I get caught up on all the stories.

There is nothing quite like Marietta, Montana at Christmas.  A small town with a huge heart and an absolute adoration for Christmas traditions… and decorations.  Much like Ivy who has left the big city far behind, disillusioned with her work and the cheating jerk she almost married.  She’s come home to the place her grandparents once called home, to a ranch full of precious memories and hopefully a chance to reset her life… right after she has a huge meltdown that she’s been holding off on until she can get to the safety and isolation of the ranch.  She truly wasn’t looking for anything beyond escape and to celebrate Christmas with baking, decorations and new, rambunctious rescued puppy.  What she finds is a sanctuary, a home and a love to last a lifetime.

Rhett is determined to bring Rose Crown Ranch back to life.  The land, some of the buildings are his… the main house is owned by an absentee city owner, family of those who once lived here but not around much.  That is about to change, and with that change comes even more into Rhett’s life.  He wasn’t looking to start a relationship, he definitely didn’t intend to be any woman’s rebound romance, but there’s something about Ivy that simply draws him in.  And has him hoping for a lifetime.  Anyone who can tame his rude father, mend fences with a crotchety old man intent on wallowing in his own pity is one woman he’d love to have by his side.  They need time to know if this is actually real… Ivy doesn’t need any more time, she needs Rhett but convincing this stubborn cowboy that she intends to stay will need some Christmas magic touches… and lots, and lots of mistletoe.

Her Mistletoe Cowboy is full of Christmas magic, two people who are right for each other and a sense of finding home, at last.  Yes, Ivy and Rhett have issues to be dealt with, and they are in a slowly progressing fashion that is completely believable.  As always, the secondary characters of Marietta bring this story to life – and the Christmas Stroll is just as beautiful as every year.  I liked this couple, their teasing banter, the friendship as well as the love growing between was so well defined.  I’d highly recommend this story and series to any Romance reader.  If you haven’t discovered the Wildflower Ranch series, go check it out – just because it’s a few years old doesn’t meant these stories should be missed by anyone who loves to fall in love.

I own an e-book copy of this story.

This review also appeared on my all romance blog, Romance Is Ageless, where along with a variety of Romance stories and series I also keep the Marietta, Montana series reviews.  Hope you’ll check them out as well.
